Self-Employed Person
Immigration Program

The Self-Employed Person immigration program is the third segment of the business immigration class.

The self-employed program is giving great opportunities to individuals who have the intention and ability to become self-employed in Canada.

You can apply for this immigration program if:

  • you are a world class artist or athlete and your professional life will make a significant contribution to the cultural and sporting life of Canada;
  • you have experience in farm management and have the ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

As self-employed person in Quebec you must comply with the following criteria:

  • be able to create your own job by practicing a profession or trade on your own account;

  • have net assets of at least C$100,000 that have been legally obtained;

  • have at least two yearsof experience as a self-employed worker in the profession or trade you plan to practice in Quebec.

Additional factors like your age, the nature and duration of your training, your language skills, and your personal qualities will be taken under consideration. The main applicant and his/her family members must pass the obligatory medical examination and background security check.

PNP Business Immigration Programs

I think here it is appropriate to mention the other popular Canadian immigration programs, called Provincial Nominee Programs "PNPs". Unlike the Federal immigration programs, the PNPs are supported by the Provincial government and focus on local provincial immigration needs.

Most of the Canadian provinces have their own PNP Business Immigration Programs: British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and the Yukon.

Despite some differences, the PNP Business Immigration Programs require the applicant to have business experience, high net worth, and be willing to invest money in a new or current business in the selected province.

As we have mentioned earlier, High Net Worth Immigration is involved in the processing of Immigrant Investor Programs applications only.

However, should you have any interest in the other Canadian business immigration categories as Entrepreneurs, Self-employed person, or if you are interested in applying for PNP Business Immigration programs, please let us know and we will forward your request to our partners for assistance.
